Can you hedge your short position by buying shares of a stock stocks

So in my market watch game (I would never do this in real life btw) I shorted LTEA. I’m feeling less confident in this decision, because I believe we could see a 2nd day rise (even though it’s clearly a crap stock). Since they don’t allow pre market or after hours trading on market watch I could put in a buy order for the shares which would go through at market open. My question is, would this protect me at all? Would this be an okay way to hedge my position or is it too late?

You can both go long and go short on a stock at the same time; check with your broker because there are rules on how to close those positions (I.e. you can’t buy to cover until you sell your long; or something along those lines)
